CHAMAELEO OUSTALETI

Wild caught Chamaeleo oustaleti (Oustalet's Chameleons) should never be considered as a first chameleon. They can be difficult to adjust to captivity and are highly suseptable to heavy parasite loads. However, because of their reported hardiness and availability as captive bred stock they can be considered for the beginner with lots of space and available heat.

C. oustaleti is a very large chameleon. C. oustaleti and C. parsonii share the distinction of being the largest of all true chameleons. Adult males grow to lengths of well over 2-feet. They are large, heavy-bodied, heat-loving animals.
