Non archery Contests
Of course, every paid admission "wins" a site token :-)
He-Man contest. Frankly, we don't know what to call this, but it's
similar to the Scottish Caber toss, except with a boulder.
Drag Race. Introduced at Pennisc, it's to see which man in woman's
garb is the fastest.
Best Landsknecht Garb - One each for male and female - You don't have
to be an archer to participate.
Best Insta-Puff 'n Slash garb. We provide the clothes, you bring
scissors, knife, etc. This will be a timed event.
Best period camp site. Dress up your campsite to look period. It
only has to be skin (or cloth) deep.
Saturday will have a bardic competition. As the good Baron Christoforo
is so old and absent-minded, he needs help in remembering what he has
done in the past. Therefore, he is minded to make the theme of the
competition himself. Yes, tell Baron Foro all those stories you've
heard about him (preferrably SCA related). Prizes will be given for
"best over-all bardicness", and for "farthest from the truth (as Foro
recalls it)" - be prepared for him to try to defend himself and his
reputation.

Directions: The site is about 25 miles
southwest of Minneapolis. Take your best route to I-494 at the southwest
corner of the metro area. In Eden Prairie, you should leave I-494 for

narrows from 4 lane divided to two lane two-way) and Victoria to the town
of Waconia. There will be a stoplight at State Highway 284. Go past the
stoplight two blocks and turn right on Maple Street (Waconia Ford will be
on the left). Travel past Southview Elementary school to Third Street
and turn left. In one (LONG) block, you will see an entrance to the
Waconia County Fairgrounds on your left. Keep going to the next entrance
on the left, and turn in. Troll will be right inside the gate, and you

Policies
Animals:
Dogs, cats, ferrets, etc. are welcome on site, but owners will be
responsible for cleaning up after them, and as we are within Waconia city
limits, they will need to be on a leash or ortherwise controlled at all
times.
Alcohol:
The site is discreetly wet; it is located in the middle of a residential
area. We will check IDs.
Fire:
Fires must be contained in fire rings with bottoms, drums, grills or
other devices. Any campsite with a fire, stove grill, etc., is required
to also have a bucket of water on hand at all times.
Please use common sense with lanterns. If you will be using tiki
torches, please use only candles, not the oil or reservoir types. Any
lit torch found unattended will be confiscated by the constabulary, and
you will be charged a fee to get it back.
Candles are encouraged at feast.
Children:
Parents are encouraged to make arrangements for their children under
the age of 12, either with off-site care or with a responsible older
adult/teenager on site.
Parents are urged to review safety rules with their younger children,
such as the meaning of "Hold!" and the importance of staying away from
security areas around the archery range.
If security finds any child
under 8 years old wandering unsupervised (e.g. not in transit to the
bathroom, not running a defined errand, not able to tell where her/his
responsible adult is), that child will be returned to the parents. If
this happens with the same people three times, they will be asked to
leave the site. This policy is in place to prevent injuries related to
archery and to prevent possible problems with the citizens of Waconia.
Once a missle is released, it's out of mortal control.
Children's activities will be available on Saturday. We need a
gentle to help plan and volunteers to help said gentle. Please contact
the Volunteer Coordinator (See the Contacts section.)
Vehicles:
We will clearly designate a parking area on site. Vehicles will be
limited to the roads and marked routes to camping areas. Vehicles will
be given a parking token when they arrive to help with late night
security.
Camping:
While not considered a camping event, we welcome all to camp with us
on the evenings of Friday, May 30th, and Saturday, May 31st with the hope
that this will make long journeys more manageable. Please do
not make lots of noise at night! The town of Waconia can provide meals
and provisions, and is about 25 miles from Minneapolis proper. (See maps for details.)
HE Christoforo is sponsoring Bardic circles Friday and Saturday
nights. Friday will be a casual circle for the sheer enjoyment of
storytelling and song around the bonfire. For information on Saturday's
Bardic circle, see the Non archery Contests section.
Saturday night will also include dancing, after the kitchen is cleaned up
and lasting as long as you feel like it. We ask that everyone plan to be
packed up and heading off the site by 11:00 AM Sunday morning. There are
limited (read: 1 per sex) showers on site. Directions to "shower houses"
of nearby members of the barony will be available at the site.
The site is surrounded by an eight (8) foot high chain link fence,
with one gate which will be patrolled. The gate will close at midnight
on both Friday and Saturday night.
Our site does not have electrical or other hook-ups for recreational
vehicles or campers, and it does not have a sanitary disposal station
either. For this reason, we would like to discourage the use of
recreational vehicles and campers at this event. We do recognize that some
people require special accommodations, or are traveling long distances;
please speak with the camping coordinator, Lady Marwen, if you feel you
require a camping set-up other than a tent or pavilion, and we will
evaluate the situation.
