| Cafe Di Napoli | (612) 333-4949 |
| 816 Hennepin Ave., Minneapolis, MN | |
Cafe Di Napoli is a classic Italian Restaurant, complete with a hand painted mural of the Italian landscape. It has been at the same location since it first opened its doors in 1938. They offer a wide selection pasta and pizza as well as a very lively antipasto which far surpassed our waiter's modest description.
| Buca Little Italy | (612) 638-2225 |
| 11 S. 12th St., Minneapolis, MN | |
Buca is dining in the style of a classic Italian Restaurant with red and white check table cloths, braids of garlic hanging from the wall, and real pizza ovens. The atmosphere is very warm and cozy and the serving size is sufficiently generous that you will have dinner for the next night as well. One caveat: the place is so popular that the wait can be as long as an hour to get in, especially on a weekend evening.
| Figlio's | (612) 822-1688 |
| 3001 Hennepin Ave., Minneapolis, MN | |
Figlio's is a restaurant with a highly varied menu with an italian focus. It's atmosphere is elegant and trendy. They have a liberal hand with the garlic and there is much here not to be missed. One perennial favorite is their steak sandwich, a thick tender steak on Foccaccia with onion and gorgonzola. They typically have a different antipasto and soup each night. Prices range from $15 to $20 a plate.
| Romolo's | (651) 776-3882 |
| 1409 Arcade St., St. Paul, MN | |
The sauce here is simmered for 18 hours and the flavor shows it. This is an old fashioned neighborhood italian restaurant which also offers take out and, for those quiet evenings at home, delivery.
| Loring Pasta Bar | (612) 378-4849 |
| 327 14 Av Se, MINNEAPOLIS, MN 55414 | |
Eclectic atmosphere in an old drugstore. Reasonably priced entrees. We enjoyed a penne pasta with crimini mushrooms, pine nuts, golden raisins, gorgonzola cheese, and rosemary; a seafood linguine with mussels, scallops, and shrimp; a walleye fillet with a maple-based sauce; and portobello mushroom ravioli with corn salsa. Try the artichoke ramekin for a starter; it's a bit spicier than the typical artichoke dip served at most restaurants. Last, but not least, the restrooms are a must-see!
| Ristorante Luci | (651) 698-8258 |
| 470 South Cleveland Ave, St. Paul, MN 55105 | |
A crowded little dining room- if you don't mind elbows, you won't mind this place. The wait staff make it work, though. A very diverse wine selection; we had one merlot there that we haven't been able to find anywhere else (except Italy). Traditional style Italian cuisine. Far afield from Olive Garden, they are not shy about using only Italian on the menu when it is called for. A meal for two was $100, which included wine and dessert.
| The Grotto | (651) 430-0560 |
| 402 S. Main Street, Stillwater, MN 55082 | |
Really authentic dishes like the Rigatoni Bolognese Spaghetti and fun small plate items that can be eaten instead of an entree. The place is gorgeous, and a part of the original cave structure. The music is fun and upbeat as is the staff. The Chef even comes out in the dinning room and talks to tables.
| Ginellis Pizza | (612) 332-6308 |
