June 24, 1936. Just to remind you, the Matthews family reunion is to be held at the home of your President, Arthur W. Matthews, 1400 Birch St., Scranton, Penna., on July, 11, 1936. (Saturday) If you sing, speak or just clown to entertain, brush up on your specialty and be ready to render it about 2 P.M. This will be followed by competitive events for the youngsters, and then a baseball game with a soft ball by pick-up sides. There will be quoits, etc. Professional photo at 4 P.M. Don't leave until it is taken and if you are delayed, break a leg is necessary to get there in time for it. Bring your own basket lunches, but coffee and lemonade will be served. If possible, drop a card stating your intention to attend and the size of your party. This is a gathering of the clan when condolences are wrapped in camphor and jovial countenances will wear their most merry smiles. Mourning will be only for those who miss it. To get there from Scranton, cross the Spruce St. bridge at the D.L. &W. station and go out Moosic St., following the signs to the Sportsman's club. Those coming from the east on the Scranton, Daleville highway, turn off at Lake Scranton pavillion and follow the lake to the East Mountain road, thence to the Sportsman's club. By bus, leave Scranton on the hour on East Mountain bus to the end of the line and follow signs to Sportsman's club. The club house will be procured if it rains, otherwise, you will be directed from there to the Arthur Matthews residence, so rain or shine come! Karl Matthews, Secretary.
