I just remembered that in fact there is an editor that might do what
you want. Epsilon, from Lugaru Software, Ltd.
<http://lugaru.com/lugaru.html>, has "Internet support," which includes
asynchronous file retrival using FTP, remote directory editing, and
running a telnet session.
