The Somnambule's Crime

Traveling Stage Show

In his cardboard robe and paper monocle the baby Jesus generates flattering illumination for the Spanish Inquisition by rubbing his rear end against a strange soft bicycle in a desk drawer which he built himself. A pretty young woman is inking in his eyebrows with a carpenter’s pencil and the gypsies in the olive trees are lashed together with horse reins to better observe the universe’s failed leap at marriage. The ceremony is projected upon a pink curtain pinned to Jesus’ forehead by a sapphire tie-pin which coagulates and dissolves with each hot-air blast from the eyes of a budding child-star hidden behind the evening dress of the lovely young woman inking in Jesus’ eyebrows. She is trying to make him show “patient surprise: Facial Effect # 319”.
