She is the understudy of an echo or – like December - a statue of the sunlight’s cheek bones. A baby pram containing an adult female rolls down the subway steps through the bramble and into the closed observatory between two resonating mountains poxy with subway stops. Ms. Berenice smoothed out her dress at the first subway station because she was going to visit a stock character from the Unicorn Tapestry whose brown velvet heart is like chocolate shaped into a child’s pistol and who owns (by inheritance) a piano encased in brambles. There was a smaller subway line which ran through a syphilis clinic but that was not her immediate destination today. Later she rode out to the beach and located Marilyn Monroe’s autograph in the sand. She left five pressed lilies and a change of clothing.
