Young Rudolph awakes in a meadow and – three feet away by bicycle – a marble elk and a pyramid of horrid sandwiches to go with the cooling coffee. Further along the path an American farmer holds a rifle while riding in an open boxcar as it begins to rain. Such details are either contradicted or enhanced by the small duckpond of blood shaded by a palm tree and standing nearby is the local priest sitting on the fence which disappears around a low hill where someone beyond the woods is shouting for their little child to put down the kitchen knife and it is Christmas.
