QuietThoughts
"The glory of friendship is not the outstretched hand, nor the kindly smile, nor the joy of companionship; it is the spiritual inspiration that comes to one when he discovers that someone else believes in him and is willing to trust him with his friendship."
~~Ralph Waldo Emerson~~

Quiet Thoughts

When I was in third grade, a new Principal came to my school. He was a brilliant educator who cared more about educating his students than he did about administrative and bureaucratic aspects of his job. It was with fondness that his staff would find him down on his knees in the corner of a classroom helping a child when a meeting was about to begin. This person was my friend and gave me a precious gift. I keep it close by and read from the little book of Quiet Thoughts often. ~Ann, 11 Feb 1998

is being loved for yourself...
or, more correctly,

To have enjoyed the sun,
To have lived light in the spring,
To have loved,
To have thought,
To have done?"

If anyone should ask me
to give a reason
why I loved my friend,
there could be only one answer:
"Because he was he,
because I was I."

Silence is the perfectest herald of joy:
I were but little happy,
if I could say how much.

If I had but two loaves of bread,

for they would feed my soul.
